The port the river abandoned
Lakhpat once earned a lakh of rupees a day from sea trade — until the 1819 earthquake shifted the Indus and the sea walked away. What remains is a near-empty town inside a complete 18th-century fort wall, staring out over the grey mudflats of the Kori Creek.

Three faiths, one wall
Within the ramparts stand a serene Gurudwara marking Guru Nanak's stay en route to Mecca, the domed tomb of Pir Ghaus Muhammad, and old temples — a reminder that port towns collect every faith that sails.

Sunset on the ramparts
Climb the northern bastion in late afternoon. The Rann glows pink to the horizon, the wind carries salt, and you will likely have the entire fort to yourself.
