Mandvi's revolutionary
Shyamji Krishna Varma, born in Mandvi in 1857, founded India House in London and became one of the earliest voices for Indian independence abroad. This memorial, built in Kutchi red sandstone, brought his and his wife's ashes back to Kutch in 2003 after nearly a century in Geneva.

Cenotaph on the coast
The chhatri-style cenotaph stands on a rise above the sea, deliberately echoing the royal chhatris of Bhuj, and houses a small museum on Varma's life and the wider Indian revolutionary movement in Europe.

A coastal pairing
Most visitors combine it with Vijay Vilas Palace and Mandvi beach — all three sit within a few kilometres of each other along the same stretch of coast.
