A summer palace by design
Built in 1929 as the summer retreat of the Jadeja rulers of Kutch, Vijay Vilas blends Rajput domes, Bengal-style balconies and European stonework. The upper terraces still catch the sea breeze exactly as they were built to.

Rooms open to the public
A portion of the palace is open as a museum, with royal furniture, portraits and armoury on display, while the rest remains a private residence of the erstwhile royal family.

The beach below
The palace's private beach, with its long stretch of quiet sand, has doubled as a film location for several Bollywood productions and remains one of the calmest stretches of coast in Kutch.
